FOREST WORKER LABOUR ADJUSTMENT PROJECT
The Cariboo Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition (CCBAC) has initiated the Forest Worker Labour Adjustment Project as one of several initiatives to address the information needs of workers facing imminent layoff or work reductions as well as dealing with information needs of worker concerning future impacts of the Mountain Pine Beetle on future employment opportunities in the region.
CCBAC is taking a pre-emptive approach to helping workers cope with change and to provide them with the tools necessary to manage that change whether it is financial, educational or other issues that will impact their future.
The goal of the Forest Worker Labour Adjustment Project is to retain workers and their families in the Chilcotin-Cariboo. While some may want to take early retirement, others might want to open their own businesses, change careers altogether or prepare for work in a changing forest industry.
